You can easily delete your company account in the event that your company no longer exists, or for other reasons such as a company restructure. This guide explains how to permanently remove your account.

How to delete your company account

To ensure the deletion is intentional and authorized, absentify uses a secure two-step verification process:

  1. Navigate to the delete section
From the absentify dashboard, click on Settings > Delete.

  2. Provide feedback
Before finalizing the deletion, you will be asked to provide a reason for deleting the workspace. This feedback helps us improve our service.

  3. Initiate deletion
Click the Delete company account button to start the deletion process.

  4. PIN verification via email
    After initiating the deletion:

    • A secure PIN will be generated and sent to your email address
    • The PIN is valid for a limited time and expires automatically for security
    • Check your email inbox (and spam folder) for the deletion confirmation email
  5. Enter PIN to confirm deletion

    • Return to the deletion page in absentify
    • Enter the PIN you received via email
    • Click Confirm deletion to permanently delete your account

The PIN verification process ensures that only authorized administrators can delete the workspace and prevents accidental deletions. The PIN expires after a set duration for security purposes.

Important notes

Deleting your company account is permanent and irreversible. Once deleted, all users, data, and records associated with your account will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered.

If your company has an active contract with absentify, deleting the account will automatically cancel the subscription associated with your workspace.

This action complies with DSGVO (GDPR) regulations, ensuring that your data is permanently and securely deleted from our platform.

Recommendations before deleting

  • Inform your employees
Since the deletion of your workspace removes all data and user access, we strongly recommend notifying employees beforehand. This ensures they are aware of the changes and can avoid any confusion.

  • Prevent unintended re-creation
Based on our experience, employees may attempt to log in after the workspace is deleted. This can sometimes result in them unintentionally creating a new, unlinked workspace. Communicating the decision to delete the account in advance helps avoid this issue.

Troubleshooting PIN verification

If you encounter issues with the PIN verification process:

  • PIN not received: Check your spam/junk folder. If still not received, you can request a new PIN by initiating the deletion process again.
  • PIN expired: If your PIN has expired, simply restart the deletion process to receive a new PIN.
  • Invalid PIN: Ensure you’re entering the PIN exactly as received in the email, including any formatting.

Proceed with caution

If you are certain about deleting your company account, ensure all necessary data has been exported and saved beforehand. For more information on exporting your data, refer to the Export leave data guide.
